Following the successful deployment of the first Prysm LED monitor last September at Dubai Media Inc, the state-backed broadcaster has now invested in two additional Prysm video walls for its news channel. Local distributor Baba Broadcast Services (BBS) will supply and integrate the solution.
The Laser Phosphor Display TD1 tile will be used to create a large 9m x 1.9m curved video wall and a 4m x 2.3m display for the Dubai TV News studios, one for the production set and one behind the live news broadcast.
138 Prysm tiles in total will make up these displays, specified by Dubai based integrator Baba Broadcast Services.
Speaking about the new contract, Ihab El Baba, managing director of BBS said: We have a long term relationship with Dubai TV and the installation in the news studio is part of a complete refurbishment of the news centre. This follows a successful installation of the first broadcast LPD videowall in the stations sports studio last year.
The videowall displays will form a backdrop for the shows presenters to keep the Middle East up to date with breaking news, correspondent updates and bring the news to life. The LPD tiles are popular in broadcast thanks to a 178° wide viewing angle. Additionally, the temperature of the display can be easily adjusted to accommodate the environment as need be, and the colour of each tile can be individually adjusted from 11,000K to 2700K to ensure accurate colour reproduction in ever changing lighting conditions.
Tanvir Osama, director of Sales in the Middle East and India for Prysm added that the curved wall is designed to be a statement display for the studio, and is built on the Prysm curved videowall frame by our project installation engineers.
One of the key elements which led to this project is that LPD enables broadcasters to create seamless images without hotspots, which is vital in the studio environment.
