Spacetoon Group has partnered with Pinkfong, the educational arm of SMARTSTUDY, a South Korean educational entertainment company, to bring Baby Shark to MENA. The “Baby Shark” song by Pinkfong has garnered than two billion views on YouTube! Although originally designed for children, the song has also captured the hearts of adults.
Spacetoon is now bringing the phenomenon to MENA along with other songs by Pinkfong as part of the partnership. Alongside this, a couple of other related announcements have been made. Dubai-based Arabian Licensing Company (ALC), an independent brand licensing agency in MENA, who first introduced the licensing business in MENA as far back as 1979, has snagged the master license for all categories of Pinkfong and Baby Shark. In addition, Dubai-based company, Global New Age Media (GNAM), a major provider of educational media, also announced that the exclusive rights for the ticketed and non-ticketed activation of Baby Shark and Pinkfong in the region have been contracted to Spacetoon Event, its events subsidiary.
Speaking about the partnership with Pinkfong, Fayez Weiss Al-Sabbagh, President of Spacetoon Group, said: “We’re very proud of partnering with SMARTSTUDY. We can’t wait to see how our team will expand the popularity of the already successful Baby Shark song, but this time in Arabic”.
Spacetoon Kids TV will create an Arabic version of Baby Shark in cooperation with Pinkfong. The programme will be featured on Spacetoon’s linear and digital media platforms. Other Pinkfong hits such as Monkey Bananas, The Penguin Dance, and many more will be localised to Arabic as well.
