This year, Lawo will showcase the V matrix software-defined IP-routing, processing and multi-viewing platform; the VSM broadcast control system and the SMART solution for broadcast networks.
Lawo will present at CABSAT 2020 its IP-based broadcast audio and video production, control and monitoring technology alongside their radio product line. The event will take place from March 31 to April 2.
This year’s setup in Dubai comprises Lawo’s V__matrix software-defined IP-Routing, Processing and Multi-Viewing Platform, the VSM (Virtual Studio Manager) independent overarching broadcast control system as well as SMART (System Monitoring and Realtime Telemetry) for broadcast networks.
Also, on show are the mc²36 All-in-One console with the Bundesliga-approved KICK automated mixing control for close-ball mixing as well as Lawo’s A line – WAN-capable Audio-over-IP Nodes. The setup is rounded up by the presentation of the manufacturer’s powerful ruby radio console with a customizable, context-sensitive visual interface and the Power Core Audio Mixing Engine.
Lawo’s V__matrix ecosystem is based on generic high capacity FPGA-based processing blades upon which software-defined Virtual Modules (VM) are loaded to create the functionality required.
The range of VMs includes the vm__dmv – the world’s first infinitely expandable true IP multiviewer and the vm__UDX – 4K format converter. It provides format conversion between SD, HD, 3G and 4K/UHD formats in the V matrix eco-system when loaded on a c100 core processing module.
In addition to up, down and cross conversion the vm__udx also provides audio embedding/de-embedding, frame-sync, proc amp and RGB/YUV colour correction and colour space conversion (SDR to/from HDR) functionality.
Multiple cores are connected through redundant 40GE (or 4x10GE) Ethernet interfaces to an IP network to form a distributed IP routing and processing matrix that provides frame-accurate, clean switching just like a legacy baseband matrix.
Lawo will also show its VSM IP broadcast control system which brings together all the requirements for a safe and flexible broadcast operation. Lawo’s IP control solution abstracts the physical units from the user providing a single overall control solution featuring seamless baseband and IP integration, the broadest third-party control capabilities (including broadcast and AV equipment), and an intuitive operational user interface.
Lawo’s smart range includes the smartDASH System Monitoring and Realtime Telemetry, vendor-agnostic enterprise software for network and media visibility across an all-IP, all-SDI or hybrid WAN/LAN broadcast infrastructure, and the smartSCOPE Deep Packet Inspection & Network Analyzer, a media-agnostic, high-density 24/7 analysis platform for IP flows in live production and delivery.
The mc²36 audio console is an all-in-one mixing desk, with a comprehensive feature set that covers broadcast, theatre, house of worship, live and install applications. A powerful DSP micro-core with internal 512×512 port audio matrix and integrated I/O make it ideally suited to permanent installations with limited space. As it is natively equipped with RAVENNA/AES67 technology, the mc²36 integrates seamlessly into IP infrastructures.
KICK is the ball-tracking technology for close-ball audio pickup for sports such as soccer, rugby and American football. The system provides transparent sound and excellent ‘kick-to-noise’ ratio, significantly reducing crowd noise.
With A stage (A__stage 80, A__stage 48, A__stage 64), Lawo presents its latest WAN-enabled live performance interface series, featuring high-quality features such as Class A microphone preamps, state-of-the-art digital A/D FIR filters, and SMPTE 2022-7 Seamless Protection Switching (SPS), whereby two discrete, redundant network connections guarantee the stability of the network connection.
Ruby mixing console is designed for today’s radio. New SMPTE 2022-7 Seamless Protection Switching combined with standards-based AES67 AoIP delivers flawless networking for mission-critical applications. Customizable, context-sensitive touchscreen GUI provides a smooth, integrated workflow; complements familiar physical controls to give instant response in fast-paced production environments. Ruby comes with VisTool which allows users to create context-sensitive touchscreens to control mixing consoles, routing matrices, build loudness metering displays and more.
The Lawo Power Core is a networked 19”/1RU Audio Processing unit with unprecedented processing capacity providing 96 fully equipped DSP channels, 80 summing busses and a 1,920×1,920 routing matrix. The eight rear side slots accept any variety of IO cards for Mic, Line, AES, MADI and headphone interfaces in addition to the unit’s IP and MADI connectivity.
