Argosys Regional Sales Manager reveals new partnerships, strategy for the Middle East and a detailed insight into what to expect at CABSAT.
How important is the MENA market for you?
We are seeing more and more original content being produced in the MENA region, which is creating a demand for the very latest in broadcast infrastructure equipment, including high quality signal transportation and intelligent networking and power management. As an infrastructure specialist, Argosy has its Middle Eastern base in Dubai and we have strong relationships with integrators and resellers in Bahrain, Saudi, Qatar and so on.
This market is crucial to us; we recently appointed Pharaon Broadcast as a regional distributor in Lebanon to strengthen our market position there. We are continuously striking up new partnerships in the region, which will further help us understand the technological trends in different countries across the Middle East. They will also help increase brand awareness for Argosy and enable us to be considered earlier in the life-cycle of a project.
Our clients in the region, such as HSE24, MBC, DMI or Alhurra, have already enjoyed access to a huge range of reliable products. This helps them minimise their procurement and logistics operations and also saves them a lot of time when it comes to delivering time sensitive projects.
What is your main objective at CABSAT?
This show is the flagship event in the region, so attending CABSAT helps us really connect with our client base and our reseller network. This year, our goal is to streamline our sales and support operations, with the delivery of closer regional support through our partner program. So CABSAT will be a vehicle for us to really push this message whilst empowering our resellers and partners to go out and deliver top quality Argosy products and services. We will also be doing customer visits at the show, to help secure more business in the region.
What new solutions will you showcase at CABSAT?
This year, well be displaying a range of intelligent networking solutions to help broadcasters create more efficient, greener networks. Were also focusing on giving broadcasters the ever increasing networking power and resources to cope with the demands of streaming video, social media interactions and data hungry applications.
Were highlighting the intelligent EMU line of IP-based mains distribution units. The new EMU3s embedded intelligence is a scalable power management solution with a low resource outlay. It has an intuitive web interface for quick and easy access to control and configuration, and the health status of racks and every connected output can be easily monitored, via advanced email alerting.
Versatile fibre transport from Barnfinds BarnMini plug and play fibre converters will also be on display. It is described as the ‘Swiss army knife’ of converters as the small form-factor pluggable (SFP) device, can be set up to achieve everything from a simple conversion to a complex solution. This allows broadcast and system designers to connect more or less anything to anything.
We also have the new x950 Series high capacity modular switch by Allied Telesis, for those with growing networks demanding the fastest speeds. The x950 is the ideal switch to place at the core of the high-performing modern enterprise network and is stackable to create a resilient local or distributed solution- and the bandwidth can be increased at any time by adding more high speed ports.
Were showing kvm-tec’s rapid switching and resilient extenders, which are aimed at high pressure environments such as broadcast facilities and, combined with a standard network switch, reduce cabling requirements and networking costs. The technology allows individual endpoints such as PCs, monitors, and so on, to behave passively when controlled via the software. This results in less data traffic on large systems, as the end point only requires information at the moment of switching.
Argosy is also bringing Canare video patch panels to CABSAT, including the 32 way WECO video patch panel, a 75 ohm mid-size video patchbay and its 4K 12G-SDI sibling. Finally, visitors can also see two broadcast-quality connector termination panels from the UK company Cliff. A single panel mount supports audio, video, data, fibre, as well as HDMI, USB, Cat6. The Ghielmetti compact connecting audio patch panel will also be on display at the show.
