A film screening event over the weekend will honor the artistry of Arab short films and delve into the realms of creative and artistic expression through individual and collective histories.
Abu Dhabi-based arts and design centre dedicated to showcasing and nurturing creative production across region 421, previously known as Warehouse421, has announced its Summer 2023 Programme: Setting Suns, which runs until September 21. The public is invited to reflect on personal and collective histories through a film screening programme, Local Perspectives: Film Screening Programme with Arab Film Studios, of award-winning new works produced and directed by filmmakers based in the UAE.
The screening is open to all and will take place on August 27, 2023, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
The programme, which is organised in partnership with the Arab Film Studios, features five short films in the documentary and narrative genres, exploring creative and artistic expression through personal and collective histories.
The films that will be screened include Unspoken, directed by Samia Badih; Made of Clay, directed by Fayssal Bin Sahli; The Death of Mr. Tamimi’s Foot, directed by John Haddad Abdul Nasser; Ranapakhara, directed by Swapna Kurup; and As if the King, directed by Fahad Hussein.
Arab Film Studios Programme is an initiative by Image Nation Abu Dhabi, home to the region’s aspiring filmmakers, giving them the guidance, skills, and support to bring their dreams to the big screen.
On September 9, 2023, the centre will also organise a Summer Soliloquies: A Writers’ Soiree from 6:00 pm to 9:00 PM.
421’s first Writer’s Soiree is a chance to meet and connect with other writers in Abu Dhabi. Participants will have the opportunity to enjoy an evening of food, reading, and networking.
The season features new public programmes for all ages such as Summer Club, Performance Co/Labs, film screenings, home-cooking sessions, and artist gatherings.
