Abu Dhabi is currently hosting the Heritage Film Festival, which will screen selected Emirati, German and Swiss films, at 7:30pm each evening.
Each of the short and feature films reflect on the relationship between generations in different cultures. The selection of Arab and European films has been put together by the curators, Ali Al Jabri and Philip Bräuer. After each screening, film directors and experts will engage in a discussion and answer questions from the audience.
Tonight (February 23) sees the screening of the 2011 Emirati-Swiss short film, Layers, by Manal Wicki, which runs for 7 minutes.
For the first time this year, the Heritage Film Festival Mobile Phone Video Competition will take place.
The best films will be screened during the festival and then the audience will choose the winner of the competition.
The Heritage Film Festival is organised by the Goethe-Institut Gulf Region in close cooperation with the German Embassy, the Swiss Embassy, Abu Dhabi Film Festival, the Emirates Heritage Club, Abu Dhabi Film Commission, the Higher Colleges of Technology and the Zayed University Abu Dhabi. The Mobile Phone Video Competition is supported by twofour54.
The open-air Heritage Film Festival runs until February 25 at Heritage Village.
