Movies will be shown across the weekend, from Thursday through to Saturday, with all safety measures in place.
Yas Island will launch its own purpose-built Yas Drive-In Cinema, developed in partnership with Reel Cinemas, on Thursday, July 9. Movies will be projected onto a giant LED screen throughout the weekend, with a selection of carefully selected, fan-favourite movies spanning a multitude of genres.
Film fans will be able to enjoy a fantastic night out in unique surroundings as Yas Marina Circuit provides a completely new concept in Abu Dhabi, with movie soundtracks being played through a dedicated radio channel for visitors’ car stereos. Food and beverage options will be part of the ticket price with popcorn, soft drinks, water and chocolate part of the package.
Several measures have also been implemented in accordance with Government directives to ensure the health and well-being of everybody inside the venue. This includes a 65-car limit to abide by the social distancing regulations, temperature checking with hand-held devices for all guests on arrival and the availability of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) should it be required.
As an added safety precaution, prayer rooms, along with shower and locker facilities, will not be available at any time, while every effort has been made to ensure the customer experience is as contactless as possible, right from the initial online purchase of tickets to departing the venue at the conclusion of the movie.
Guests will also be required to wear facemasks if windows are lowered to speak to event staff, and when leaving their vehicles at any point throughout the event.
Doors will open at 7pm and films will begin from 8pm each day, with entrance to the Drive-In Cinema via the East Gate.
On the opening night, Mad Max Fury Road will be screened, followed by Joker and Crazy Rich Asians on Friday, July 10, and Saturday, July 11, respectively. Gravity will feature on Thursday July 16, Ready Player One on Friday, July 17 and A Star is Born on Saturday, July 18.
The Yas Drive-In Cinema is produced by Brag, which is responsible for other community events in the UAE such as Beach Canteen, Sole DXB, The Pointe Concerts, Club Social, Wasla, Dubai Fitness Challenge and many more.
