Lebanese-German actor Kida Khodr Ramadan and Egypt-German actress Tua El Fawwal will act in Hooped.
Luxembourg-based Egyptian director Adolf El Assal has started casting for his new film Hooped, with two Arab stars – Lebanese/German actor Kida Khodr Ramadan and Egyptian actress Tua El Fawwal already signed up for the film.
Kids Khodr Ramadan is famous for the German TV series 4 Blocks and won the Best Actor award at the German TV Awards. Tua El Fawwal is considered the first Egyptian actress to win the German Acting Award for the youth category and gained fame for being the first hijab-wearing actress in Germany.
Speaking about the two stars, Adolf El Assal commented: “I am happy and proud to have Kida Khodr Ramadan and Tua El Fawwal within the cast of my next film, because they are considered the new generation of talented actors of immigrant origins to Europe, and both of them, through their works, have broken the stereotype more than once.”
Hooped follows the schemes of aspiring entrepreneur and basketball whiz Adam, 17, that take him on a coming-of-age odyssey from Luxembourg to Canada to Egypt, burning bridges wherever he goes.
El Assal also screened his film Full Memory last month at the Luxembourg Pavilion at Expo 2020 in Dubai. The Luxembourg Pavilion is an art project based on Connecting Minds, by inviting eight artists from seven different artistic disciplines to collaborate in implementing transdisciplinary projects. Adolf El Assal is representing the cinematic specialty.
El Assal made headlines with his film Sawah, which did very well in the international film festival circuit with 34 awards in the bag. His film also topped the Netflix list.
