Egyptian actor Ahmed Ghozzi has joined the biography series Al Imam Al Shafi’i, in which Khaled El Nabawy embodies the titular Imam’s role.
The series is scheduled to be aired during Ramadan 2023.
Al Imam Al Shafi’i is written by Mohamed Hesham Obayya, directed by Laith Hijo, and stars Arwa Gouda, Salma Abou Deif, and Khaled Anwar.
Ghozzi will also be starring in Darb Naar, which will be airing in the upcoming Ramadan season as well. The cast includes Yasmin Abdulaziz, Ahmad Al-Awady, Soheir El-Morshidy, Badria Tolba, Eman Al-Sayyed, and Huda El-Etreby. The series is written by Nasser Abdulrahman and directed by Mostafa Fekry.
This all comes after the streaming of the fifth season of the Netflix series The Crown, Ghozzi played the part of a young Adnan Khashoggi. The series stars a wide array of international megastars including Oscar winner Olivia Colman, Claire Foy and Oscar nominees Helena Bonham Carter, Gillian Anderson, and Jonathan Pryce.
Ghozzi’s other work includes the TV series El-Meshwar, starring Mohamed Ramadan and Dina El-Sherbiny, which was aired in the 2022 Ramadan season on MBC, DMC drama, and DMC in parallel with its streaming on Watch It. The series was written by Muhammad Farid and directed by Mohamed Yassin.
Before that, he starred in the psychodrama series 60 Minutes — which is currently available on Shahid — alongside Yasmeen Raess, Mahmoud Nasr, Shereen Reda, and Fatima Al-Banawi. The series was written by Mohamed Hesham Obayya and directed by Mariam Ahmady.
Ahmed Ghozzi is an Egyptian actor who graduated from the University of Leeds in the UK, where he took his first steps in his acting career.
Ahmed’s first role was Mo in the short film Walkout 1, which screened in London in October 2020. His career then kicked off in Egypt when he secured three roles in the 2021 Ramadan season — The Choice alongside Karim Abdelaziz and Ahmed Mekky, Take Care of Zizi starring Amina Khalil and Mohamed Mamdouh, and Between Heaven and Earth, which was based on a novel by Nobel Prize winner Naguib Mahfouz.
