Aswan International Women Film Festival has announced that its jury for the Short Film International Competition will house Egyptian star Hana Shiha, Greek Director Ioana Kriona and Syrian-Dutch Artistic Director of the Arab Film Festival in Rotterdam Rosh Abdelfatah.
The festival management decided to honour the French actress Macha Méril at its opening ceremony that will take place from June 24-29 in Aswan, Egypt.
Hana Shiha received her bachelor’s degree from the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts in acting and directing, and she broke into the silver screen at the age of 20 through her role in the series The Western Land in 2002.
Ioana Kriona, born in Greece, holds a BA and MA degrees in Film Studies and Art History from Freie University in Berlin, and began her festival experience in 2009 with Thessaloniki International Film Festival. Her professional experience also includes film production and distribution. She has directed three short films, the last of which won a 2021 funding grant from the Hellenic Public Broadcasting Corporation.
Director Rosh Abdel Fattah is the Artistic Director of the Rotterdam Arab Film Festival, and he is the founder of CMENA.nl. It is an electronic platform for cinema from the Middle East and North Africa. He completed his film education at St. Just Academy of Arts in Breda – Netherlands in 2006, and is currently working in video production in Europe and the Middle East as a freelance artist.
