The move is part of a broader strategy to strengthen the Riyadh-based network’s global presence.
Al Arabiya News Network, the Arab world’s premier news provider, has announced its expansion into international markets with new English-language news segments and a slate of new shows presented by global journalists. This move reinforces Al Arabiya’s mission to deliver high-quality, comprehensive news coverage beyond its flagship Arabic-language channel and digital platforms.
The expansion brings prominent news figures such as Rosanna Lockwood and Tom Burges Watson to Al Arabiya, where they will cover topics ranging from international politics and current affairs to culture and human-interest stories.
Speaking about the expansion, Mamdouh AlMuhaini, General Manager of Al Arabiya Network said: “We are delighted to introduce Al Arabiya News Network’s English-language programming line-up. This international expansion reflects our dedication to providing our viewers with diverse perspectives and insightful analysis on the issues that matter most.
“We are looking forward to reaching new audiences around the world, providing them the trusted and accurate news coverage that our original Arabic network is known for.”
British journalist Rosanna Lockwood, known for her work across major global networks, will lead Global News Today, a programme offering comprehensive coverage of major global events and issues. Lockwood’s extensive experience includes roles at Talk TV, CNBC, MSNBC and Bloomberg, with reporting from major cities like London, Dubai and Singapore.
Prior to joining Al Arabiya News Network, Lockwood hosted her own daily news show on Talk TV in the UK. She has also presented for CNBC, MSNBC, Reuters, the BBC, Bloomberg TV, LBC and ITN.
Tom Burges Watson, a multilingual presenter with nearly two decades of experience, joins as an English-language news anchor. Watson has covered significant events such as the Paris attacks and the Beirut explosion, bringing his expertise from France 24 and CNN International.
Until June 2024, Tom was the host of the evening news show Prime News Paris on France 24, a channel of which he was part for the past 15 years. Alongside his role at France 24, Watson also worked as Paris Correspondent for Monocle Magazine.
Prior to his time in France, Watson worked with CNN International in the United Kingdom.
Al Arabiya’s new English-language content is available via free-to-air satellite TV, allowing viewers worldwide to experience the trusted and reliable news coverage the network is known for.
