The broadcast network from Iraq, Al Iraqiya TV is to establish a Tehran office. There are around 120 foreign news bureaus in Iran, Mohammad Hosseini told reporters during a meeting with Iraq’s Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Lava Al Samim.
Hosseini also said the recent ban by Egyptian authorities on Iran’s Arabic satellite TV channel, Al Alam, is ‘unjustified’ and ‘would harm bilateral relations’ between the countries.
“Egypt is an Islamic country and we are ready to have cooperation with the country in all domains, in cultural and arts fields in particular,” Hosseini told Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).
“We welcome presence of Egyptian media persons and reporters in Iran but Iranian reporters are barred from traveling to Egypt,” he added. “We are ready to host representative offices of Egyptian networks in Iran and we would have necessary cooperation with them.”
Egyptian security forces recently raided the Cairo office of Al Alam, detaining its director, and seizing equipment. Authorities claim it was because the channel was broadcasting without a licence, though Al Alam said there was no explanation for their actions.
