Al Jazeera Childrens Channel (JCC) will feature Al Rukn Al Khames, an exclusive and locally produced live television series on the occasion of Hajj and Eid Al-Adha.
Featuring renowned Muslim scholars, Al Rukn Al Khames (Arabic for The Fifth Pillar), will be aired live from a special studio set at the Ceremonial Court at the Education City in Doha. The daily show will explore the significance of pilgrimage and its rituals.
Through reports from Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Kuwait and Palestine, the show will relive the Hajj journey through the hardships and experiences of the pilgrims. According to Saad Al Hudaifi, JCCs Acting Channels Director, this special Hajj produced programme reflects JCCs commitment to bring viewers real life programming that pays tribute to their religious and cultural values.
Like all of our local productions, this special Hajj programme will be engaging, entertaining and informative. We wanted to bring children and the entire family together to share and enjoy this lifetime experience. Al Rukn Al Khames also offers viewers who may be too young to make this journey, a glimpse into the spiritual greatness they will experience when they perform pilgrimage, added Al Hudaifi.
To ensure that all pilgrims have a trouble-free Hajj, the show will feature medical doctors who will provide guidance and health advice so that pilgrims are aware of potential health risks. These insights will help pilgrims undertake all precautionary measures to stay healthy during their pilgrimage. Al Rukn Al Khames will be aired daily at 4:00 pm and re-run at 10:00 p.m Mecca time starting Monday October 22, and the final episode will be aired on the first day of Eid Al Adha on Friday October 26, 2012.
