Al Kamel Systems will provide services remotely from its Spanish headquarters in Barcelona to keep a minimal on-site footprint.
Al Kamel Systems will support the broadcast of new electric off-road series Extreme E with timekeeping, TV graphic services and data information. The company will bring its expertise to Extreme E with an innovative range of services such as live timekeeping based on GPS position; wireless track network to facilitate data communication between cars, teams and race direction; as well as a paddock network to distribute data to TV.
Ali Russell, Chief Marketing Officer at Extreme E, said: “Al Kamel Systems is at the forefront of broadcasting technology and I’m delighted that they be working on Extreme E. Its broadcast product is our key to reaching as many screens as possible as we won’t have spectators on-site, and our aim is to make it as engaging as possible, so we are looking to create a futuristic package, almost like a computer game. Al Kamel Systems will be instrumental in helping us deliver this product as the data they capture will be utilised in sporting graphics which tell the story of the racing.”
Al Kamel Systems will utilise military technology to supply a reliable technology network, essential in some of the most remote corners of the planet including the Arctic, and the Amazon rainforest, where Extreme E will race in 2021.
Jose Luis Garcia, CEO at Al Kamel Systems, said: “Al Kamel Systems will face one of the most exciting challenges in its 17-year history with Extreme E. As a motorsport technology company, to supply a broad range of services in such diverse and difficult environments made us rethink and rebuild the architecture of our services technologies. We are using a variety of new initiatives like GPS timekeeping that minimise dramatically the onsite footprint and ensures a smooth broadcast of the championship, a very complex task, as after all everyone is relying on our services.”
To keep a minimal on-site footprint, Al Kamel Systems will provide services remotely from its Spanish headquarters in Barcelona.
Extreme E, which kicks off in April 2021, prides itself in working with like-minded companies with an environmental and sustainable ethos, and Al Kamel Systems ensures the majority of its services are powered by solar energy.
