Labib's career in the entertainment industry spans over four decades, with more than 200 film and television credits to his name.
The 40th edition of the Alexandria Mediterranean Film Festival, which will take place from October 1 to 6, 2024, will honour veteran Egyptian actor Lotfy Labib, according to a report by Scene Now.
Labib, known for his roles in films such as The Student Cop (2004), Badr (2001) and Afarit el-Asphalt (1996), will be recognised for his significant contributions to Egyptian cinema.
The festival will be held under the leadership of film critic Prince Axab and the patronage of Minister of Culture Dr Ahmed Fouad Hano and Alexandria Governor General Ahmed Khaled Hassan Said. The tribute to Labib will take place during the opening ceremony at the Alexandria Library Hall, where he will be celebrated as a cornerstone of Egyptian cinema.

Despite graduating from the Institute of Theatrical Arts in 1970, Labib’s career faced a decade-long delay due to his six-year military service and four years spent abroad. His career truly began in 1981 with his performance in the play The Bald Singer, followed by The Hostages. Labib has since become a prolific actor, known for his performances in supporting roles. He has appeared in 387 sequels, including series, movies, radio shows and more, since 1988, solidifying his reputation as one of the most talented performers of his generation.
