Apart from that, Alphabet reported total earnings for its first fiscal quarter of 2020, including revenue of $41.2bn and net income of $6.8bn.
Google parent Alphabet has announced its earnings for the first quarter of 2020. According to the report, YouTube ads brought in $4.04bn revenue in Q1, up 33% from $3.03bn in Q1 2019.
This figure does not include the non-advertising revenue for YouTube. The company includes that revenue in the “Google other” line item, which was $4.4bn for this quarter. That segment includes hardware sales for devices such as Chromebooks, Pixel phones, and Nest products (like smart speakers).
Despite the figures, Alphabet CFO Ruth Porat warned the quarter ended on a low note. “Performance was strong during the first two months of the quarter, but then in March we experienced a significant slowdown in ad revenues,” she said.
