Dubai-based Colonia Studio has relocated to Al Quoz and rebranded as AM Studio. The new 12x12x4.2m studio area has been operational since last month. The relocation was part of the studios efforts to operate in a bigger area while ensuring it was closer to Dubais media cluster.
The studio is equipped with two different layers of black curtains as well as a chroma screen to give the client the flexibility to choose between a white, black or chroma background. The studio is also fitted out with several kinds of lighting including Flo lights, HMI and Dedo lights. A wide range of cameras and studio gear are available to accommodate different genres of shoots including music and commercials.
We want to focus more on young, independent filmmakers, students and foreign filmmakers who want to make films in the UAE, explained owner Kaveh Farnam, who is also managing director of Advanced Media, a major distributor of video and photography technologies in the UAE.
I wanted to use my own experience with production in Advanced Media to explore new technical opportunities in digital cinema and wanted to challenge young people to learn more, added Farnam, who regularly hosts training workshops in Dubai for professionals and also actively encourages filmmaking by partnering with local entities to screen films and participate in film festivals.
Previously, we have done many technical workshops but now, we also want to focus on acting, script writing and directing, added Farnam.
