The enhanced Amagi-Applicaster integration supports linear, VOD and live events in one app, with personalised content, custom EPG lineups, swim lanes and carousels based on viewer profiles and languages.
Amagi, a major player in cloud-based SaaS technology for broadcast and connected TV (CTV), has partnered with Applicaster, a provider of SaaS solutions for video distribution, to announce a significant enhancement to their integrated offering. This collaboration is designed to boost content distribution, monetisation and customer engagement.
The improved integration allows seamless support for linear, video-on-demand (VOD) and single live events within a single app experience. It also introduces advanced content personalisation features, including customised EPG channel lineups, swim lanes and carousels tailored to viewer profiles and language preferences. By supporting multiple content formats and improving discoverability, content service providers can deliver a more personalised and engaging experience to viewers.
Launching streaming apps can be a complex, costly and time-consuming process, involving challenges like maintaining consistent UI/UX across platforms, integrating with players and content management systems (CMS), and managing code across various devices. Additionally, issues like content discoverability and personalisation depend heavily on effective metadata management and technology capabilities.
The integration with Applicaster resolves these challenges by enabling Amagi to aggregate metadata from both internal and external sources and present it through APIs directly into Applicaster’s Zapp interface. This collaboration reduces the burden on content providers, allowing faster time-to-market with lower costs, while enhancing the viewer experience through personalised content and interactive playback features. Applicaster’s no-code app development platform also expands its reach by supporting deployment across the web, Android, iOS, connected TVs, Roku and FireTV.
Commenting on the partnership, Scott Cunningham, Vice President of Streaming TV Products at Amagi, said: “Amagi is excited with this partnership with Applicaster. The real-time API interactions with Applicaster enable Amagi to provide complete personalisation of the experience from one viewer to another. This personalisation could be based on viewer preferences, watch history, geographic location, or language preferences. Furthermore, our investments in stream personalisation technology, including Zero Slate and programme start over and skipping capabilities, all drive towards increased viewer engagement.”
Jonathan Laor, President & Co-founder at Applicaster, added: “This recent expansion of the Amagi solution’s content management capabilities in combination with our distribution platform will drive significant value to our joint customers looking for robust, unified, and extensive management capabilities of their Direct-to-Consumer strategy. This joint solution reduces cost, time-to-market, and resources while enhancing operational control, monetisation, and efficiency. It also allows businesses to manage and stream VOD and other video assets through the same apps, driving revenue, brand loyalty, and audience growth.”
Amagi’s solutions, already securing multiple award nominations at the IBC Innovation Awards, CSI Awards and BaM Awards, continue to set new standards in cloud broadcast technology.
