MIP Cancun Online+ has announced that Amazon, Disney+ and Netflix have joined the line up as it finalises this year’s conference programme scheduled to take place online from November 17 to 20, 2020.
The seventh edition of MIP Cancun is an international television market and conference for the Latin American and US Hispanic markets.
One of the panels, ‘Amazon Originals: From Small Local Story To Global Hit: Amazon Original El Presidente’, will see Javiera Balmaceda, Head of Originals Latin America, Amazon Studios and Armando Bo, Showrunner, About Entertainment (Argentina) look at how Amazon is encouraging creative freedom as the key to producing unique local content with great storytelling at its core while providing creatives with the best resources to realize their vision.
The keynote, ‘Amazon Prime: Expanding The Streamer’s Experience In Latin America’ will have Pablo Iacoviello, Director Content Acquisition, Amazon Prime Video Latam focus on how the streamer has ramped up its offering through an expanded slate of regional originals, break out hits from its sister operations around the globe, and third-party deals with major studios.
Disney+ panel ‘Regional Branded and non-branded content objectives’ will take a look at shared management perspectives on divisional goals for regionally produced content for Disney+ to complement the streaming service’s global libraries.

Further, ‘Selena: The Series & The Power of Representation’ will feature producers of Netflix’s Selena: The Series, the upcoming biopic about the late iconic Tejano singer Selena Quintanilla, will discuss the importance of inclusion in front of and behind the camera, and the power of local storytelling for global audiences.
