Recently, Al-Turki stepped down as CEO of Red Sea Film Foundation to focus on personal projects and further his career as an independent film producer and businessman.
AmfAR, the Foundation for AIDS Research, will honour Saudi film producer, businessman and philanthropist Mohammed Al-Turki at its upcoming gala event, amfAR Venezia, during the 81st Venice International Film Festival. Also being recognised at the event is actor Richard Gere, who will receive the Award for Inspiration for his humanitarian efforts.
Al-Turki, who previously served as CEO of the Red Sea Film Foundation, will receive the Philanthropic Leadership Award on September 1 for his significant contributions to the film industry and charitable work.
The 81st edition of the Venice Film Festival runs from August 28 to September 7.
Mohammed Al-Turki is an acclaimed film producer known for Hollywood hits such as Arbitrage starring Richard Gere, 99 Homes with Andrew Garfield, and Crisis featuring Gary Oldman.
As the CEO of the Red Sea Film Foundation, Al-Turki was instrumental in expanding the Red Sea International Film Festival, establishing it as a premier event on the global film calendar. Under his leadership, the festival attracted more than 35,000 visitors and supported 250 projects from Saudi Arabia, MENA and Asia across its first three editions and represented the foundation at the 76th Cannes Film Festival in 2023 with nine Red Sea-backed films, including the opening night film Jeanne du Barry.
In 2021, Al-Turki launched the “Women in Cinema” initiative at the Red Sea Film Festival, highlighting influential women in the film industry. He also partnered with Vanity Fair Europe to host celebratory galas in Cannes, Venice and Jeddah. His contributions to cinema earned him the title of GQ Middle East’s 2022 Man of the Year.
