This marks the second participation of actor Amir El-Masry in the Cannes Film Festival.
Austrian filmmaker Jessica Hausner’s Club Zero, starring Egyptian actor Amir El-Masry, premiered at the 76th Cannes Film Festival in the Official Competition.
The film stars Mia Wasikowska, Sidse Babett Knudsen, Amir El-Masry, and Elsa Zylberstein.
El-Masry plays a ballet teacher at an elite school where danger abounds.
This marks El-Masry’s second appearance at Cannes following his film Limbo (2020), which appeared at prestigious international film festivals across the globe like the BFI London Film Festival and Filmfest München.
The film follows Miss Novak, who has recently joined the faculty of an esteemed international boarding school to impart her knowledge on the merits of conscious eating. She advocates for the idea that reducing one’s food intake can lead to a healthier lifestyle.
Despite her efforts, her colleagues are initially slow to catch on to the benefits of her approach. However, as time progresses and parents begin to take notice, Miss Novak’s Club Zero gains momentum and becomes a reality.
