Dubai-based distributor Advanced Media Trading (AMT) has teamed up with CATS (Creative Arts Technologies) in Kenya to make broadcast equipment available more easily to productions in East Africa.
The team presently offers multi-cam production and technical support to two of the biggest shows that are broadcast live on TV twice a week for the duration of four months.
There are no distributors in East Africa for broadcast equipment, Christel De Wit, Partner at CATS told BroadcastPro.
In the past, we have sent requests to Kaveh Farnam, CEO of AMT but we now want to make it easier for people to test the equipment and access it, stated De Wit.
Most of the productions in East Africa are undertaken by people trained by CATS, claims Ayaz Rajput, head trainer at CATS.
As a result, when people eventually want to invest in equipment, they tend to come to us for advice. We are an engineering service provider. Its not an expertise we can teach people. We will now serve as an advisory committee and keep some demo equipment from AMT for people to test.
Owing to the laws in Kenya, AMT will not have an office in the country but will look to serve this market through a representative.
Speaking about the deal, Kaveh Farnam, CEO of AMT said: This is an excellent opportunity for us to expand our business in Africa. We have always worked with the objective of educating and creating brand and product awareness in the market and this partnership will help us achieve that in Africa.
