Sharon Taylor, CEO of Animal Logic, has stepped down from her position, and Karen Toliver, the Vice President and leader of Netflix Animation Film, will assume the role of CEO for the studio.
Netflix has announced that it is merging Australian animation studio, Animal Logic, into its internal structure, with Karen Toliver, the Vice President of animation film, now leading teams in Sydney, Vancouver, and LA.
In the wake of this organisational shift, Animal Logic’s CEO, Sharon Taylor, is stepping down from her role. Netflix acquired Animal Logic in 2022, a strategic move to bolster its long-form animation production capabilities, bringing more than 800 staff members under its umbrella.
Animal Logic has collaborated with Netflix on various projects, including The Magician’s Elephant, Leo, and The Shrinking Of The Treehorns. The Sydney-based studio is also known for its contributions to animated features like DC League Of Super-Pets and Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway.
Karen Toliver, who joined Netflix in March 2022, previously served as Senior Vice President of production at Sony Pictures, contributing to titles like Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse. She also held a role at Fox Animation, overseeing the production on the Rio films. With this new responsibility, Toliver will oversee Netflix’s animation endeavours across different locations, marking a strategic move for the streaming giant in its pursuit of expanding and enhancing its animation content.
