In anticipation of the Asia TV Forum and Market (ATF), Mondo TV Group has announced the international expansion of MeteoHeroes, an environmental-themed show co-produced by Mondo TV S.p.A and Meteo Expert (MOPI srl). The series is set to captivate audiences in diverse markets across Asia, Africa, and Europe.
Cineplex, a prominent pay-TV channel in Thailand, has secured the broadcast rights for both MeteoHeroes (52 x 7’) and Meteo Expert (MOPI srl) (52 x 13’). The series will air exclusively on True-branded channels and platforms, encompassing both pay-TV and free TV formats.
Jei Broadcasting Corporation (Jei TV) in South Korea, a key pay-TV channel, has acquired exclusive pay-TV rights and non-exclusive SVOD rights for both series.
Meteo Expert (MOPI srl) is set to reach Greater China through distributor SPE HK, handling rights for both series one and two.
Standalone sales have been confirmed, with Brunei’s Mi Media International acquiring free-to-air TV rights, while MBC in Mauritius and RTL Klub in Hungary also secure broadcast rights.
While specific launch dates are pending confirmation, the shows are expected to debut in late 2023 and throughout 2024.
MeteoHeroes stands out as the world’s only cartoon dedicated entirely to climate and environmental issues. With a successful four-year run, the series has garnered a presence in over 180 countries and 22 languages. The second season premiered in summer 2023 on Cartoonito and Canal Plus, matching the success of the first series in numerous markets and earning multiple awards for its quality and sustainability message.
Through an exclusive partnership with mega hit-maker Kenn Viselman (Teletubbies, Thomas the Tank Engine), MeteoHeroes has found a home on PBS in the United States. The show is a vital part of the most comprehensive climate education initiative globally, supported by PBS stations across America, KIDS FIRST!, Mondo TV Studios (now part of Spain’s Squirrel Media), Meteo Experts, and Adventure2Learning. The initiative aims to reach 30,000 schools and 15m children aged 4-to-10 in the USA and millions of school-aged children worldwide.
In addition to its television success, MeteoHeroes Adventures (52×7’), a podcast launched on the Adventure2Learning platform, is now available on all podcasting platforms. A global digital platform has also witnessed the launch of MeteoHeroes – Saving Planet Earth, a video game co-produced by Mondo TV Studios (now part of Spain’s Squirrel Media), Sony Interactive Entertainment Spain, and Gammera Nest.
Commenting on the development, Matteo Corradi, CEO of Mondo TV, said: “The global success of MeteoHeroes is continuing to grow as it enters new markets where, I am sure, it will continue to entertain, educate and delight young viewers – just as it has in more than 180 countries to date!”
