Speculation about Apple’s possible deal with Time Warners HBO grew last year when the pay TV service launched its standalone HBO Now streaming service on Apple TV.
Discussions about Apple buying Time Warner, however, didnt go past a preliminary stage, as they did not involve Tim Cook, Apples Chief Executive, nor his Time Warner counterpart, Jeff Bewkes.
Apple intends to ramp up its spending on original content to several hundred million dollars a year, according to sources.
It was also reported that Apple may currently be more interested in acquiring a streaming video service such as Netflix.
