Eighty-nine influential Arab film critics will whet the films to announce the winner at the El Gouna Film Festival.
Arab Cinema Centre (ACC) and European Film Promotion (EFP) have revealed the European films competing in the 6th Arab Critics’ Awards for European Films. Twenty-two films have been shortlisted of which eight are Oscar nominees. The nominated films were chosen by EFP member organisations’ national film institutes and have premiered or screened at leading international film festivals.
Eighty-nine of the most prominent and influential Arab film critics from 15 Arab-speaking countries will
first decide on their top three favorites before announcing the winning film during the El Gouna
Film Festival that runs from 24 October to 1 November, 2024.
Speaking on the nominations, EFP’s Managing Director Sonja Heinen said: “We are absolutely thrilled to have the opportunity to show a fine selection of 22 films from 22 countries from throughout Europe to such a distinguished jury of Arabian film critics. It is a pleasure and an honor to continue our partnership with the Arab Cinema Center and the El Gouna Film Festival to make European cinema visible in the Arab world.“
