The museum has offered both virtual and in-person attendance options.
In Dearborn, Michigan, the Arab American National Museum (AANM) has kicked off its annual Arab Film Festival.
Arab Film Festival is one of the museum’s longest-running programmes, dating back to its inception in 2005. It offers a range of windows into Arab cinematic creativity and storytelling.
This year, the festival is taking place virtually and in-person, from August 12 to 21, 2022.
AANM hosts the annual Arab Film Festival (AFF) featuring the best of critically acclaimed and award-winning Arab American and Arab world films, many of which are unlikely to reach traditional American commercial theatres and often make their regional or national debut at AFF.
Genres include drama, comedy and documentary, in both short-form and feature lengths. Every festival film is subtitled in English, making them accessible to all.
In a statement, the organisers said: “The Arab Film Festival strives to bring you the absolute best films from the Arab world and Arab American community to the doorstep of metro Detroit, with many films making their Michigan and/or US debut. We pride ourselves on creating a safe space, a platform for Arab and Arab American films and filmmakers and to give a voice to Arab and Arab American artists and their stories.”
