To be part of the programme, potential applicants will have to meet certain criteria stipulated by Arab Film Studio.
Image Nation Abu Dhabi has partnered with the Embassy of the United States in the UAE and Film Independent, to offer AFS Episodic Storytelling – an in-depth programme for scriptwriters. The submission is open to all UAE nationals and residents. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older at the time of application.
To qualify for the programme, potential participants must submit a half-page biography, a half-page description of their TV series following AFS guidelines; a one-page synopsis of the pilot in English, as well as a logline of up to 150 words. The last date for the submission of the project is April 17, 2021.
Successful candidates will be able to participate in the six-month online programme commencing May 24, which will see world-class experts from American industry leader Film Independent offer a practical understanding of several distinctive elements of American Television including the state of the TV industry, the writers room, creating a Bible or series document, a compelling pilot, and the art of the pitch. They will familiarize them with the tools required to develop authentic content.
The course is split into three parts, with most of the training delivered online. The last workshop – an interactive, practical programme – slated for November, is expected to take place at Image Nation’s facility in Abu Dhabi, should the global situation allow for training in person.
Participants will be expected to develop the draft for a pilot to be admitted to the second section of the programme.
