Arabsat will hold its 147th board meeting on November 5-6, 2014 in Dubai. Saudi Deputy Minister of Information and Arabsat Chairman Saleh bin Abdulaziz Al-Moughaelith will preside over the meeting that will have participation from nine Arab countries including Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Libya, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Oman, Iraq, Yemen and Tunisia.
Khalid Bin Ahmed Balkheyour, President and CEO of Arabsat, said that this session will be preceded by the specialised committees meetings. The main points of discussion at the meeting will be the manufacture and launch of four new satellites.
While two of these satellites will be launched in Arabsat orbital positions the other two will be in the Hellas-Sat orbital positions. The latter was acquired by Arabsat in 2013.
The four satellites are considered to be a giant leap for the satellite operator, in terms of manufacturing technology and satellite capabilities and coverage, according to Balkheyour.
Balkheyour added that Arabsat is the only satellite operator in the Middle East that offers a full range of satellite telecommunications and broadcasting services in addition to broadband services through a growing fleet of satellites on 26° East, 30.5° East and 20° East as well as Hellas-Sat orbital position 39°East.
