The show is created and written by Ori Elon and Yehonatan Indursky.
Yes Studios has extended its collaboration with Arte, a European public service channel dedicated to culture, by licensing all three seasons of its acclaimed series Shtisel (33 x 45’) to the broadcaster. The series is set to debut on arte.tv on July 19.
This latest agreement follows yes Studios’ earlier announcement this year regarding Arte’s acquisition of the comedy series Bloody Murray (9 x 45’).
Shtisel, starring Michael Aloni, Dovale Glickman, Neta Riskin and Emmy Award-nominee Shira Haas, chronicles the daily lives and relationships of the Shtisel family, an Orthodox Jewish family in modern-day Jerusalem known for their spirited interactions.
Created and scripted by Ori Elon and Yehonatan Indursky, the series gained international acclaim upon its Netflix debut, offering a compelling portrayal of Haredi society. Produced by yes TV and Abot Hameiri Barkai for yes TV, Shtisel has garnered 17 Israeli Academy Awards, including Best Drama Series, Best Script, Best Actor (twice) and Best Actress.
Speaking about the deal, Sharon Levi, Managing Director at yes Studio, said: “We are pleased to continue our collaboration with Arte and are excited that Shtisel will be made available to audiences across France and Germany later this week.
“With its endearing characters and fascinating look into everyday life in an ultra-orthodox community, Shtisel continues to prove a hit wherever it is shown. It tends to quickly develop a strong local fanbase, with most viewers keen to binge-watch this addictive TV series. We are confident that this experience will be repeated with this latest deal and look forward to seeing how well it performs on arte.tv.”
