ATV will produce the 14-episode adaptation for premiere in a primetime slot this summer.
Turkish broadcaster ATV has commissioned a local adaptation of the popular quiz format The Floor from Dutch format specialist Talpa Studios.
Set to air in a prime-time slot this summer, ATV will produce a 14-episode version of the show. Originally debuting in the US, France, and Italy earlier this year, The Floor has now been sold into a total of 11 countries. In the Netherlands, the show is currently enjoying its second season.
In The Floor, 100 quiz enthusiasts engage in intense quiz duels on a massive LED floor divided into 100 squares, each representing a distinct field of knowledge. Contestants aim to conquer the entire floor and secure a substantial cash prize.
During the game, a randomly selected contestant challenges an adjacent opponent in a quiz duel, competing in the category of the opponent’s square. Categories vary from famous athletes to Hollywood actors, and from iconic buildings to mammals.
The victor of each duel claims their opponent’s square, expanding their territory, while the defeated contestant exits the game. Ultimately, the last contestant standing at the end of the series will walk away with €100,000 ($108,000).
