For seamless interoperability, Lawo intends to integrate Dante APIs and SDKs for access to control, management and media signals for Dante networks directly into HOME.
Audinate and Lawo AG have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to integrate Dante’s audio and video technologies into Lawo’s HOME management platform. The collaboration will allow native discovery, control and management of Dante-enabled devices and media signals within the HOME Apps ecosystem.
Lawo plans to embed Dante APIs and SDKs for seamless access to Dante networks, along with new services—Dante Importer (southbound) and Dante Exporter (northbound)—to enable interoperability between HOME-native and NMOS-compatible devices. This will extend beyond audio to include Dante AV video signals, building on the existing Dante integration in Lawo’s Power Core modular I/O and DSP gateway.
This partnership highlights the significance of the Dante network protocol in various sectors, including studio, installation, and live sound. The collaboration aims to bridge the gap between the Dante and RAVENNA protocols on a microservice-based application level, allowing users to mix diverse audio sources, such as SMPTE ST2110, NDI, SRT, and RAVENNA, with Lawo’s HOME mc² DSP app.
HOME Apps’ Dante integration is expected to provide interoperability and agility for a diverse range of Dante-enabled sources and destinations, such as power amplifiers, immersive audio speaker arrays, etc.
Jamie Dunn, Lawo’s Deputy CEO, said: “The integration of Dante into HOME Apps is an important milestone for Lawo’s open, unified HOME platform. Providing Dante integration on a server-based microservice level is bound to yield a vast range of creative benefits for operators as it helps them navigate the transition to future-proof hardware-abstracted processing.”
Aidan Williams, Co-Founder and CEO of Audinate, added: “The industry is rapidly transitioning to software-based IP media infrastructure, and Lawo is at the forefront of that transformation. We are excited to partner with Lawo to incorporate Dante into that vision. The integration of Dante into HOME Apps will provide Lawo customers with seamless access to Dante control, management and media signals, enabling entirely new, innovative workflows.”
The result of this collaboration is expected to be unveiled in early 2025, providing new capabilities for operators navigating the shift to IP-based media infrastructure.
