The company will keep the exclusive rights to produce ITV Studios formats in Israel, while ITV Studios will retain the rights to the Armoza cataloug it acquired in 2019.
Avi Armoza, a seasoned figure in international television, has reclaimed ownership of his Tel Aviv-based formats company from ITV Studios. This acquisition marks a significant shift in the landscape, as Armoza Formats returns to its independent status while securing exclusive rights to produce ITV Studios formats in Israel.
Under the terms of the deal, ITV Studios, the production and distribution arm of ITV, will maintain possession of the Armoza Formats catalogue it acquired back in 2019. Despite this, Armoza Formats, renowned for its success as an independent entity in the international formats arena, is poised to forge ahead with its own creative ventures.
Established 19 years ago, Armoza Formats has earned a reputation for delivering entertainment shows such as Still Standing, Marry Me Now, and The Four. While these shows remain under the purview of ITV Studios, all future formats will be under Armoza’s ownership, signalling a new era of innovation and original content production.
Notably, ongoing productions stemming from previous agreements remain unaffected by the transition. In the Israeli market, Armoza Formats has played a pivotal role in producing localised versions of ITV Studios formats, including Keshet’s forthcoming adaptation of the popular dating show Love Island. Additionally, Armoza has overseen the production of three seasons of Come Dine With Me and two seasons of the quiz show The 1% Club.
Currently, an Arabic-language rendition of Come Dine With Me is in progress, with plans for a similar adaptation of The Chase underway in the region.
“Adapting to the changing needs of the market – exploring and finding new ways to do business has always been at the heart of Armoza Formats,” said Armoza. “I’m excited for the next chapter.”
Lisa Perrin, Managing Director, International Production, ITV Studios, added: “Under Avi’s leadership, shows like Love Island and Come Dine with Me have launched successfully and I’m really pleased to continue to work with him as he represents our catalogue of award-winning formats.”
