Marc Derks, Regional Sales Director at Axon Digital Design will exit Axon on December 1, 2014. This year Derks completes three decades in the television and broadcast industry.
Derks is a familiar face in the MENA region’s broadcast industry and has played a key role in establishing Axon as a reputable manufacturer in the Middle East for the past several years.
An electronics graduate, Derks began his career as a broadcast engineer in 1984, which he insists was not a planned decision but it just happened.
I instantaneously felt at home in the broadcast industry. Later, I changed to management position and since I joined Axon, international sales has been my playground, says Derks.
Our industry has given me many challenges, many opportunities and most importantly, I had a lot of fun.
I have travelled the world and met hundreds of interesting people, experienced cultures and ideas. I made friends for life and felt blessed every minute of it, he adds.
Now, in his early 50s Derks feels its time to step back from the corporate world and start his own enterprise. Derks is set to launch his own perfume line called DERQX. He didnt want to start a consultancy or another broadcast company but wanted to explore newer territories.
He says, Axon has been instrumental in shaping his career as well as his personality.
Had it not been for Axon, this would not have happened. Axon gave me the opportunity to explore the world and find my own destination. I am very grateful to Axon to have given me confidence, responsibility and freedom. It is a very special company and Im fortunate to have a part to play in its growth, he concludes.
