The fourth edition of the Baghdad International Film Festival (BIFF) will showcase work from 60 countries globally and take place from 3-7 October 2012.
Amongst the diverse selection of films from Arab countries, including a specific Female Filmmakers section, will be a total of 38 Mexican films as the festival names Mexico as this years guest of honour.
Competitions for best feature, documentary and short film, will be held, as well as prizes for the best Arab female filmmaker and the best Iraqi filmmaker, with 300 films submitted this year. Three seminars and workshops will also take place during the event.
BIFF is supported by the Federal Foreign Office of Germany, the French Culture Centre, International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA) and the Iraqi Foreign Ministry, with the main event organiser being No Borders Iraq Cinematographers, an Iraqi NGO.
The political Arab uprisings will be heavily featured during this years festival with documentaries such as Eye of Freedom by Egyptian filmmakers Ahmed Salah Sony and Ramadan Salah, and Tunisian Revolution Women by Habib Msalmeni.
