UK public broadcaster BBC will use the Quantel Enterprise sQ system to handle news video production for its Arabic & Persian, and local London services, based at its newly refurbished New Broadcasting House facility in London.
The Quantel installation will enable production staff of both services to benefit from the broadcaster’s Jupiter asset management/Quantel video editing solution, giving them the ability to access and share media with the BBC’s other Quantel-based news production facilities.
This order expands the Quantel Enterprise sQ installation at New Broadcasting House, increasing storage to 6000 hours at DVCPro 100HD, split into 13 zones across ingest, editing and playout to provide operational redundancy. 16 sQ Load clients look after file ingest. Journalist shot selection and editing is covered with 353 sQ View, 123 sQ Cut and 131 sQ Edit desktop applications, and craft editing by 22 Qubes. In addition, 26 Final Cut Pro editors are integrated into the Quantel workflow.
“We’re delighted that the Quantel Enterprise sQ system will be used to further the integration of the BBC’s news operations,” said Ray Cross, Quantel CEO.
No other company in this space has technology like ours, and we look forward to supporting the Corporation as it continues to transform its news “production technology.”
