BeIn Media Group and Californian film studio Miramax may strike a deal soon. According to a Reuters report, beIN Media Group hopes to buy the film studio.
BeIN has been reinforcing its offering with new deals with content owners since it expanded its platform to offer sports and entertainment.
“We are optimistic. I think you might hear something on this in the short-term,” Yousef Al-Obaidly, Deputy CEO of bein Media Group commented.
Privately-held Miramax, which owns the rights to hundreds of Hollywood films including Bridget Jones’ Diary and The English Patient, has been exploring a potential sale since last year.
An investor group including state-owned Qatar Holding and Thomas J Barrack Jr’s investment firm Colony Capital bought the company from Disney in 2010 for $660 million.
