Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios’ Spider-Man 3 has cast Hollywood actor Benedict Cumberbatch to reprise his role as Doctor Strange, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The film stars Tom Holland as Spider-Man.
The decision puts Cumberbatch in the mentor role previously occupied by Robert Downey Jr., who played Tony Stark/Iron Man in Spider-Man: Homecoming, and by Samuel L. Jackson who played the character, Nick Fury, in Spider-Man: Far From Home.
Cumberbatch and Holland were first seen together as Strange and Spider-Man in Avengers: Infinity War.
Spider-Man 3 is due to begin shooting in Atlanta later in October.
