UK-based Asian music channel Brit Asia TV has outsourced its transmission services to broadcast services provider, ABS Broadcast as part of its efforts to improve its playout operations. Brit Asia TV previously operated its channels playout in-house but recently contracted London-based ABS Broadcast to undertake its transmission, on-air graphics and scheduling services. The channels media assets, EPGs, playlists and PRS music reporting are managed on ABS Broadcasts broadcast management system: ABSolute BMS.
Birmingham-based Brit Asia TV features Asian music from the UK and overseas. Although its main focus is on Bhangra, Punjabi Pop and Bollywood, Brit Asia TV also offers viewers R & B, urban music, hip hop and underground music.
Welcoming the change at the channel, Tony Shergill, Brit Asia TVs new Managing Director, said: The move to bring these services over to ABS Broadcast has already been a great success for our channel. ABSs competitive cost and outstanding technical capabilities have made it a very easy decision. We are happy that the channel is now telecasting from London.
The channel was previously available only on Sky since its launch in 2008. From last month, it extended its reach to more viewers in the country by officially launching on both the Virgin and Freeview platforms.
BARB audience measurement figures show the music channel attracts more than four million viewers each month. This statistic has been generated from the channels use of the ABSolute Channel Management System which has helped them to monetise their advertising mintage.
Sass Jahani, Managing Director of ABS Broadcast, added: Weve been building a solid relationship with Brit Asia TV for over five years now and are thrilled to be looking after the channels playout. The channel has come from strength to strength since its inception.
