Allam has replaced Myriam Degheidy, the director of the fourth edition.
The 44th edition of the Cairo International Film Festival has appointed Reem Allam as the new director of the fifth edition of the Cairo Film Industry Days.
Cairo Film Industry Days will be held from November 13 to 22.
Allam is the Executive Manager and Artistic Programmer of the Downtown Contemporary Arts Festival (D-CAF), Egypt’s international multi-disciplinary contemporary arts festival that takes place in Downtown Cairo.
She has been selected in 2018 to be the juror for Switzerland’s Zürcher Theater Spektakel festival, as part of the international jury board selecting the ZKB prizes, and in 2017 to be the juror for Boska Komedia Theater Festival in Poland. Over the past years, Allam has worked in several international festivals including London’s Shubbak Festival, Edinburgh’s Just Festival, and Edinburgh Fringe Festival – Arab Arts Focus Showcase, as well as participated as a speaker and delegate in festivals around the world in the USA, China, Brazil, Germany, Belgium, Chile etc.
In 2018, Allam led and managed the first international classical music festival at Cairo’s Manial Palace. In addition, in 2019, she participated in the Cannes Film Festival as a professional delegate, as she also works as the Creative Producer of the Egyptian film collective that had its latest short film In the Memory Of selected in the AVIFF Cannes this year, as the only African and Arab film.
In 2016, Reem Allam has been awarded distinction a UK Master’s Degree in Arts, Festivals, and Cultural Management from Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh, Scotland.
