Cartoon Network Enterprises held its annual Licensing Day on September 26, 2017, at Park Hyatt, Dubai, to discuss upcoming plans for 2018, franchise shows and support plans that will be put in place for the entire year.
Licensees and retailers from toy, fashion and F&B sectors, converged at the event from across the MENA region. In addition to numerous displays of Cartoon Network licensed product, attendees were also taken through an interactive journey on each of the Cartoon Network brands, including Adventure Time, The Amazing World of Gumball, Powerpuff Girls, and Ben 10, in addition to locally-produced show Mansour among others.
Speaking on the occasion, Ali El-Hagar, Licensing Director MENA & Turkey, said: We want to focus on simple growth pillars starting from franchise management. Earlier, we were in the launch phase. We now want to concentrate on the building and sustaining phases.
During the event, retailers were presented with toolkits for Cartoon Networks priority franchises, from turnkey activations offering augmented reality experiences to entertainment-based programmes for larger shopper audiences. Cartoon Network Enterprises shared the latest share and reach information, demonstrating its channel and digital strengths, as well as unveiling upcoming marketing campaigns and all-new local collaborations.
Commenting on the way forward, Ali El-Hagar stated: We will work towards regional expansion adapting to local preferences aimed at driving deep engagement with shoppers and Cartoon Network audiences across the region.”
Licensing executives from the network announced a diversified programme portfolio, including style guides, a fourth Power Puff character and elevating Mansour to a franchise status, among others.
