The film tells the story of a widow who works tirelessly at a failing factory in sanctions-gripped Iran receives a marriage proposal that could mean financial security, but could also tear her family apart.
Egyptian film Souad by Ayten Amin will screen at 7:00 PM followed by a Q&A with the director. The film runs until January 27.
Souad revolves around the lives of two teenage sisters; one of them holds a secret life in the virtual world. Leading a double life, Souad presents different versions of herself to her conservative society and her tradition-flaunting peers. The film speaks volumes about various social dynamics.
The film is directed by Ayten Amin, who wrote the script together with Mahmoud Ezzat. The film stars Bassant Ahmed, Basmala Elghaiesh and Hussein Ghanem.
Lastly, the opening of Hit the Road, directed by Panah Panahi will be at 9:45 PM. It will also run until January 27.
The film follows a chaotic, tender family that is on a road trip across a rugged landscape and fussing over the sick dog and getting on each others’ nerves.
