The open cinema theatre can accommodate up to 72 people and will screen free films to the public.
Cinema Akil, the independent arthouse in the GCC, has announced the opening of its free seasonal outdoor venue, Cinema Akil in 25hours (CA in 25hours), in collaboration with Ennsimore. Now open to the public, this expansion represents a significant milestone in Cinema Akil’s commitment to delivering cinematic and cultural experiences at the heart of Dubai and the region.
Situated within the 25hours Hotel Dubai One Central, CA in 25hours span of 1,867.5 sqft, housing three distinct sections: the box office/concession area, the open cinema theatre, and a versatile retail and pop-up space. Beyond film screenings, CA in 25hours offers a diverse array of entertainment options, including F&B offerings, music events, talks, and pop-up experiences. Designed for film enthusiasts and creatives alike, the theatre accommodates 72 seated guests and approximately 150 standing guests across all three zones, fostering an intimate atmosphere.
CA in 25hours is a flexible environment catering to takeovers, venue rentals, and collaborations. With screenings scheduled four times a week, the venue promises an engaging programme from November 2023 to May 2024. Screenings typically commence between 7:30 PM and 8:00 PM. Open daily from 12 PM to 10 PM, the venue encourages guests to explore its versatility through installations, social interactions, and retail experiences while enjoying a curated F&B menu.
At the heart of CA in 25hours lies the central theatre space, featuring striking red scaffolding designed by architect Joud Malhas, paying homage to Dubai’s perpetual construction and Cinema Akil’s flagship colour. Seating options include chairs from Bethlehem-based Local Industries and conversation benches by Beirut-based Post Industrial Crafts. Bookshelves, curated by Mumbai-based Jetsons Designs, blend heritage with modernity.
The venue boasts cutting-edge technology with state-of-the-art laser projection and Dolby 7.1 cinema sound, ensuring a top-notch cinematic experience. Acoustic design by Acoustics Studio 21dB maintains the integrity of the experience in the spacious atrium.

The venue will remain open until May 2024 with a new, diverse and curated programme introduced each month. There are plans to reopen it every winter.
The first free screening in December will be Farha, the Darin J Sallam-directed film.
The rest of the programme for the month includes the classic film Home Alone directed by Chris Columbus and starring Macaulay Culkin, along with documentaries such as The Black Power Mix Tape, Rolling Like Thunder and Summer of Soul.
