Civolution, Tagvance, and Monterosa, have announced the launch of the first Turkish cross-TV-channel cross-screen app compatible with mobile devices. The ‘umbrella’ app enables subscribers to access original content on entertainment channels in Turkey.
“Telecom operators and broadcasters are working harder to deliver unique cross-screen experiences that are made possible by the increasingly common use of smart devices to watch video,” said Can Kiral, CEO, Tagvance.
“Through our collaboration with Civolution and Monterosa, we have developed a robust synchronised application enabling broadcasters to offer original content and generate additional revenue. We are strong believers in the opportunities provided by synchronised apps and the m-commerce that can be generated. This is a scenario where all parties win.”
The app is available for mobile devices and provides access to the second screen portal. The app was developed by Tagvance and integrates Monterosa’s LViS platform as well as Civolution’s SyncNow audio watermarking-based Automatic Content Recognition (ACR) technology. It enables users to interact with programmes being aired on TV whether being watched live or pre-recorded, as well as purchase products displayed in programmes or during commercial breaks.
“We are now seeing real monetization of the cross-screen experience. This new synced app provides an exciting business model for broadcasters, telecom operators, advertisers and brands,” says Andy Nobbs, CMO, Civolution.
Umbrella apps’, offer a key advantage for consumers with an incredibly simple route to second screen interactions on a large variety of TV content. Civolution’s ACR technology plays a key role in this cross-screen offering, ensuring companion apps are in perfect sync with the TV experience so that brands can accurately sync advertisements and product placement activities across devices.”
The synchronisation between the content and the companion device relies on Civolution’s widely deployed SyncNow ACR solution. SyncNow enables real-time identification and second-accurate synchronization between broadcast, on-demand or recorded content and interactive applications on companion devices – tablets, smartphones and laptops – to present compelling synchronized interactive user experiences. SyncNow already powers a range of cross-screen consumer applications for movie and show producers, broadcasters, second screen platform providers and advertisers worldwide.
