The move serves as a continuation of the preventive and precautionary measures to help combat the spread of COVID-19.
The Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED) on Saturday issued a circular extending the temporary closure of commercial centres, shopping malls, cinemas, electronic game halls and other entertainment destinations in the emirate until further notice.
“The extension of closures supports ongoing preventative and precautionary measures being implemented to help combat the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) and further maintain the health, safety and security of community members,” Abu Dhabi Media Office said in a tweet.
Additional measures issued by ADDED, including suspension of valet parking services, temporarily closing gyms and fitness centres; and banning hookah (shisha) in restaurants and cafes, continue to remain in effect until further notice.
Mohammed Ali Al Shorafa, Chairman of ADDED, said the newly issued circular is being implemented in cooperation and coordination with the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) and the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHaP), said a WAM news agency report.
