David Butorac has succeeded Marc-Antoine d’Halluin as CEO of Dubai-based Orbit Showtime Network (OSN) from October 1, Panther Media Group (PMG), the company that operates OSN announced.
Butorac was most recently director of WIN Corporation, Australia’s largest regional cross media company. Butorac’s 30-year career to date has included key positions as Head of Operations and Station Manager at BSkyB, , Group COO at Astro, Malaysia’s largest broadcasting and cross media company, as well as President at Star TV in Hong Kong.
A recent message from d’Halluin to industry friends stated: "It has been an honour to lead OSN for more than a year since the merger. With support from all of you, we have been able to make great strides in integrating two companies, including the launch of the OSN brand and platform, the launch of the region’s first bouquet of High Definition channels and HD decoders and the ongoing consolidation of HQ and Broadcast functions."
Speaking about d’Halluin’s departure and Butorac’s appointment, Faisal Al Ayyar, chairman of the Board at PMG said: "I want to thank Marc-Antoine for his successful work in shaping a very promising merger between Showtime and Orbit. OSN is now clearly established as the region’s leading pay TV platform with its seven exclusive Hollywood studio output deals, its 80 exclusive premium channels and the first and only High Definition bouquet. We are delighted now to have David join OSN as our new CEO. We are delighted that David is bringing his global experience to lead our company into its next phase."
Early last month, Mike Whittaker, who was VP of broadcast operations and technology at OSN had also shocked the community by announcing his resignation from the network. Whittaker will join Technicolor’s operations in the UK.
