Films screened at DIFF 2015 claimed top honours at the Golden Globe Awards this year.
Brie Larson won Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture, Drama for her role in Room. The film was a part of the 2015 edition of the Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF) line-up. Other DIFF films were also in the news as nominees for the coveted awards.
Saoirse Ronin from Brooklyn was nominated for Best Performance by an actress in a Motion Picture, Drama and Will Smith was nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture, Drama for Concussion. The two films were also part of the DIFF line-up.
The 73rd annual Golden Globe Awards were announced at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles on January 10 with The Revenant and The Martian winning Best Motion Picture, Drama and Best Motion Picture, Musical Or Comedy, respectively. The Revenant, Steve Jobs and The Big Short, had four nominations each.
Best Director, Motion Picture award went to Alejandro González Iñárritu for The Revenant while Aaron Sorkin won Best Screenplay, Motion Picture for Steve Jobs.
Inside Out won the best motion picture, animated and Son of Saul won the best foreign language film.
