DISCOP, a TV and Film market and matchmaking programme, is expecting more than 600 registered television content buyers, sellers and producers for the inaugural edition of the event in Dubai, according to Basic Lead, organisers of the event. DISCOP Dubai will take place from January 29 to 31, 2017 at Madinat Jumeirah.
The organiser claims that close to 200 international and regional TV content suppliers will be exhibiting or attending DISCOP Dubai, including some of the worlds major television brands and 300+ buyers that represent broadcasters, cable, satellite, mobile and streaming operators primarily servicing countries from MENA and the Indian Subcontinent in the market for content, adaptation rights and packaged TV channels.
DISCOP DUBAI is featuring a two-day deal-building agenda of informative panel discussions and hands-on workshops tailored for broadcasters and independent producers. An emphasis will be placed on the highly competitive MENA multiscreen marketplace, the power of advertisers and the importance of comedy across all content distribution platforms.
Moderated by Nabil KAZAN, President of KPTV-MENA, the programme will feature key industry experts representing companies such as Eutelsat (France), Eurodata (France), OSN (UAE), Starz Play (USA), Yahlive (UAE), IHS (UK), Du (DUBAI), Creative Venture (UAE), TECOM (UAE), Twofour54 (UAE), GTV Productions (GERMANY), Trivium Media and Production (UAE), Venture Communication (UAE) and others.
In addition, under the guidance of Jan SALLING, Co-Chairman of FRAPA, the conference programme will explore the funding, distribution and protection of independently developed TV formats.
Driven by the tastes, expectations and usage patterns of an extremely young demographic, innovative business models and rapidly rising consumer embracement of pay and satellite television, television content business across MENA and the Indian subcontinent will rise fast as the driving trends behind these regions long-term growth remain the same, despite economic and geopolitical uncertainties, commented Patrick ZUCHOWICKI, founder of the DISCOP matchmaking programme.
DISCOP DUBAI is organised with the support of its Strategic Partner TECOM (Dubai Studio City, Dubai Media City) as well as the Arab State Broadcasting Union (ASBU), the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (APBU), Emirates Airlines and the Jumeirah Hotels & Resorts Group.
