Discovery Communications MENA and beIN have partnered with the Dubai Food Festival to introduce the concept of Darnival for the first time this year. The two-day event, which takes place on February 24 and 25, as part of the Dubai Food Festival 2017, will give the local audiences an opportunity to interact with the brands on the ground.
Fatafeat Kitchen has been a part of the annual food festival for the past two editions but this year it is being introduced on a larger scale.
Nancy Hanna, Head of Brand, Discovery Networks MENA, commented: Our objective for Darnival was to create greater awareness for our three newest channels (DKids, DLife and DMAX) as well as retain Fatafeats loyal audience by engaging with them through Fatafeat Kitchen. With two days of family fun entertainment, we expect to create more talkability in the market about these channels and firmly establish Darnival as an annual event on the Dubai entertainment calendar, potentially the region!
From live cooking demonstrations by Fatafeat chefs and a special Q&A from DLifes Dr Nandi, to a fun performance by Chatterbox from the popular DKids show Hi-5, Darnival will showcase the diverse nature of Discoverys beIN portfolio.
For all the activation areas the event boasts a state-of-the-art audio system using a French brand called L-Acoustics to give the required depth of performance as well as the highest sound quality. The event will see more than 150 lighting devices, including LED parcens, LED washers, source 4, Claypaky Mythos and Blinder 4way.
Social media will play a big role in bringing Darnival to life, according to Hanna.
We are using our social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) to build awareness and drive audience attendance to the event. During the event itself, we will leverage the latest features offered to us on all social media platforms including Facebook live, Instagram live, Snapchat, 360 photos and videos to offer a more engaging perspective and bring the event to all our Fatafeat, DLife, DMAX and DKids fans that were unable to attend in person. We also encourage our fans at home to participate in the event by submitting questions to our talent during the on-stage Q&A sessions via Facebook live.
The most engaged users over the two days received special Fatafeat prizes as a thank you for their participation and enthusiasm in Darnival.
