In response to beINs announcement this morning that the well-known food channel Fatafeat will be available in HD exclusively on its platform from March 31, BroadcastPro ME contacted Discovery Networks for further clarification on whether this would mean that Fatafeat would no longer be available as a free-to-air service in the region.
Discovery Networks responded that it remains committed to developing its entire portfolio across the MENA region and will continue to broadcast across both FTA and pay-TV although it did not make specific reference to whether Fatafeat would remain in the FTA space as well.
Fatafeat will be available on the beIN platform from the 31st of March, and for the first time in HD. beIN subscribers will be the first in the region to enjoy Fatafeats line-up of the best local and international food programming and superstar chefs, in stunning high definition. We wont be commenting any further at this stage, a spokesperson from Discovery told BroadcastPro ME.
